YOU ARE THE BEGINNING OF THE CHANGE THIS WORLD NEEDS TO MEETWhat has brought this world of ours, our only home, to constant bloody wars and repetitive divisive chaos since the beginning of time? The chaos we meet this day, in every area of life, is nothing new. In the past 6,000 years our race has endured a historically recorded 15,000 wars. We have evolved remarkably in the area of technology, yet in the area of relationship and in understanding how to live together in relationship, which is order, we seem to have not evolved at all. And our technology prowess, as beneficial to certain areas of life as it undoubtedly may be, has become a great danger to the very survival of our species. Something is obviously so very wrong, and the root of what is wrong must lie with us, for history is the story of the past of mankind, which is what we are, history, is your past and the world this day, in all its glorious chaos, is also the end result this day of our actions and our inability to bring peace and a sense of deep relationship to our lives. Our inability so far, to find a life, a relationship, of care and order. Something is so obviously wrong with humanity. What is it about us which results in such continuing chaos, death, destruction, and disorder? Unless we come to find this, we will never be in any position to alter this destructive pattern of living we seem to have forever been engaged in, one man against another, the inhumanity of it all, one group of people against another, one religion against another, one nation against another, one class against another, one ideology against another. We are divided in every area of our lives. An old phrase states truthfully that a divided house can never stand, and this world is the only home for any and all of us we have ever known. And we have fallen time and time again, civilisations have risen, grown, rotted, divided, corrupted, decayed and fallen. The same fate would appear to be manifesting in our own lives this day. It seems imperative that we begin to investigate and understand why. What drives divisive human activities? What motivates every action we take in life, whether on a personal level, or as a group? Is it not thought? Are our lives not ordered based on what we think? Is every movement and action we take in life not rooted in the inner psychological movement of thinking? What is thought? Have you ever asked this question? Divisions between us appear to be a cause of our ongoing chaos. We care for our own group of people, we compete against other groups, in every area of life, even in the name of religion, which etymologically originally meant the 'gathering of all of one’s energy to come to find the truth of life'. Thought is memory. Nothing more, nothing less, thought is memory. We live in memory legacy of twelve years of scholastic education, during which we are forced to memorise to pass repetitive class tests. Any activity the human brain repeats over such a long period of time becomes habitual in nature. I can prove thought is memory to you very quickly, by asking you to think of my face in detail. Of course, if you know me, have met me, or have seen an image of me, you will be accomplishing this task without any difficulty. If you have had no prior contact with the appearance of my face, you have no reference from which to build such an inner picture, and so no ability to think of my face. This is proof positive that thought is memory. And proof positive in such understanding that ability to think is limited to past recorded experiences. This limitation is the divisive nature of what brings our lives to such repetitive disorder. In this example, if one goes a little deeper, it will be seen that necessarily, the movement of thinking is limited, to past experiences recorded in the memory cells of the brain. We simply are incompetent to be able to consider within our limited recorded inward information of anything we have not previously experienced in life. This inner movement of thinking we all daily take for granted and act within, is the very root movement responsible for all divisions within humanity. And through all corridors of all time, this has been the case. It will remain so into our future, unless we change. As our ability to think is deeply limited to our past experiences, and as we seek to grow and continue those experiences into a conceptual future, as educated to, to become something, to become a success, to become enlightened, powerful, to rise above the lives of others, to become anything, we naturally manifest divisions in our shared home, this world we this day, call earth. Thought, is the root movement of and the dividing factor of all of our lives. The enemy of all men is within all men. Being limited to past recorded information, thought will never be in any position to heal the wounds of our species, which thought itself, in its eternally divisive limited activities, has been responsible for. We need to find another approach to life than thought. What might that be? Thought has been conditioned into us as the leading principle of our lives. Our education has played a great hand in this. The acquiring of knowledge, which is always limited, (always more to know), and so always divisive between us, the movement of becoming, of self interest, which is an isolated endeavour offering no benefit to the totality of humanity, of constant accumulation, of seeking pleasure, power, constant accumulation and the fear which naturally arises when pleasure or accumulation is denied or taken away, this is the ground the entirety of humanity stands upon, and this is the ground your life stands upon, for you, are a representative of the entirety of humanity. Look within, and you will see the mind of all men, what differs necessarily are the words and images which arise within this divided mind, the structure of human psychological suffering, fears, desires, the hurt, the constant pursuit of pleasure, are the same for each one of us. What divides us is the remembered content, seeking security in continuity into a conceptually projected future. Thought is essential to life. Thought is memory. Try to drive a car, speak a language, even remember your name or where you live, or partake in any kind of repetitive work without thought, and you will quickly come to realise the essential nature of thinking to our lives. But is thought, (memory), the correct approach to establish an orderly relationship between us all? Is thought the correct approach to the understanding of our lives, to the building of a world of relationship, peace and understanding, is thought conducive to living in loving relationship with each other? Or is thought, as it this day functions, the denial of all of this? Thought is time. Thought is movement in memory and memory is the past. Thought is also the future projected. The future and the past are all held within thought, in this present moment. And as the future we project is born from the limited considerations of thought, past recorded knowledge, the future we project is very similar in nature to the past we have already experienced. Our future becomes a modified continuity of our past. Our lives and our disorderly relationships become stuck in a continuing loop of repetition. There has to be another approach to life than this. One which ends divisions between all men. One which gives birth to a sense of true relationship, one where mankind finds his common ground to stand upon. But we will never come to find this, if our lives are constantly occupied with that which divides us, and that which divides us are our actions, and our actions are born from our mechanically repetitive thinking. Here, is a destination, if we are to survive ourselves, we simply must reach, without taking a single step forwards towards it. Here is a mountain we need to climb, which has no path to follow. Thought is the divisive factor between us all, realising this, one comes to the understanding that thought, limited in nature, and so divisive between each one of us, will never be in any position to heal the wounds which thought itself has brought into being. We need find another approach. What might that be? It seems imperative that we find out. Imagine with me for a while a life void of all self-interested thinking. Imagine meeting the world with no thought, other than when it is needed, to drive that car, to speak a language, to write an email, to engage in satisfying work. Imagine a mind empty to meet life, not as thought about, but as it actually is. Imagine a mind which meets life undivided by limited past experiences. A life without self interest. A mind empty of all feelings of attachment, a mind empty of all fears, all ambitions, all feelings of inner 'self', built and structured upon past recorded experiences and future desires. Would we all not in such a state, be seeing the very same world? Would we not then be living in a true relationship to each other? Would our world then, not be the very same world for each of us? Would conflict not come to an end? Our thoughts prejudice our lives, prejudice one man against another, the Christian against the Muslim, the Hindu against the Muslim, the Jew against the Arab, and this day, the Jew against the Christian, the American against the Russian, the rich against the poor, me against you, we against they, us, against them. And in this chaotic manifestation which arises from this limited recorded information of our lives we are able and limited to consider, we all waste our lives in continuous battle against each other and within ourselves, we all suffer infinitely, we all live and die on a continuous seemingly unstoppable battlefield. We wield our swords, and are slain by the very sword we wield. There is no positive action any of us can take to resolve this malady, this drama of human existence of Shakespearian proportions. Life for us all is a tragedy, and we are all of us unwitting contributors to the suffering and the destruction which has followed our race throughout eternity. As we cannot approach this immense problem, simultaneously personal, individual as well as collective to our species, can we approach it negatively? Can we negate how we live this day? What would such action (or lack of action as we know it), mean? The answer to any problem inevitably will be found within the problem itself. Any good car mechanic understands this well. If a car engine is malfunctioning, a good mechanic will look to that very problematic engine to come to an understanding of the root cause of the problem. When the cause is found, the matter can be effectively dealt with. A good doctor will work in a similar fashion, a good scientist, the same, they will look to the problem for the understanding of the problem, and once this has been clearly seen, once the disorder has been understood, the answer will be found to be within the problem itself. Unfortunately, doctors and scientists this day of such intelligent action appear to be in greatly diminishing quantities, thankfully at least, car mechanics of this world still understand this well. Politicians, have seemingly never understood this, and so their solving of every problem, creates another thousand of them. The answer to any problem is within the problem itself. Realising this, and coming to an understanding that the nature of our collective suffering and the cliff edge we are being driven towards is divisive human thinking, ours as much as any others, this area of our inner 'nature', the movement of human 'self', the 'ego', the ‘me’, is what we need to bring our awareness to. We need not seek to control, to suppress, to run away from nor even to bring our lives to order, for what seeks to bring to order, to suppress, run way from or control other than the movement of thinking itself, which in itself is the very problem in action which needs understood? We need simply to look. We need become familiar with the problem, with our inner divisive nature from which our every divisive action arises. Life is only met as it is, relationship is only found, and love is only born between us, from a mind of absolute silence. Thought has its valuable place, a bona fide place in every man’s life. We need find that place and thought need come to be seen as the danger to our ability to live in order and harmony it actually is as it functions this day. Thought is denying all potential for love to arise in our lives. For this to happen, no movement of thought is obviously necessary nor advantageous. Thought, must be observed without choice, for choice denies the ability to see completely, and if one does not see completely, the whole structure of thought can never be understood. The problematic nature of thought will remain unseen. Can you find the ability to watch your inner movements of thinking, your fears, your desires, pleasures remembered and continuously sought after, your ambition, your depressions, your anxieties, your anger, your neurosis, all from a position of non-movement? Without seeking to do a single thing about any of it? If you can, you are observing the conflicted mind of humanity. You are observing the ground, if we are to survive ourselves as a race, which needs to come to revolution. The ground this day, your life and every other, stands upon. You are observing that, which need be understood. And understanding is a process of seeing, not of thinking, which is mere knowledge about something. Thought is not the tool which can achieve such a monumental task. Thought is limited in nature. And divisive, both between oneself and others, and within itself in the inner structure of the psychological self it has built, based on past remembered experiences, tradition and education. What does it mean to be choiceless in awareness? In choiceless awareness, one does not exclude a single thing, and so all is seen. The ugly, the brutal, the violent, the confused, is not avoided. It is looked at with the same interest as that which holds desire, pleasure and beauty. And in seeing the totality of the movement of our inner traditional and educated nature, we may come to find the proper place for thought, as nature intended, not as tradition and education dictated. We may come to see where thought has no value at all, in repetitive unquestioned self interested mechanical ambitious and divisive self interested activity. Thought colours and distorts our lives against each other. We may come to see the danger of how we are all living this day. And the very seeing of this immediate danger, may be the catalyst which brings our lives to the action required to bring a true and lasting revolution to how we traditionally function within and approach life. If a bus is careering towards you on a street, and you take time to think about what to do, you are likely a dead man. No thought is required to remove our lives from a clearly perceived danger. Action is required, and memory (which is thinking), is incapable of such direct, immediate action. In similar fashion, if the dangers inherent within us, in the very structure of our inner conceptual isolated and so divisive psychological lives can be seen clearly, we will act, and such action will bring our approach to our lives to revolution, to remove our lives from the danger perceived.
The challenge is to see clearly and to see the danger well. If I have your interest, you should be forewarned this is perhaps the most difficult and arduous task any human being can embark upon. You are beginning to swim against the current of the entirety of humanity. Humanity seeks to progress, which is a continuity of what came before, this is to bring an end to the insanity of continuing that which needs to end. Unless we end what came before, we can never meet anything new. Human consciousness is this day a battlefield, the ground of all conflicts and all wars both between our people, (humanity), and within every one of our lives. This movement within, as it currently acts, is the destroyer of all relationship and the denial of all love. It takes psychological stamina, persistence, relentless dedication and an intense awareness and passion to probe into the nature of the inner human psychological self. But perhaps upon the understanding that our world is in absolute chaos, and that this chaos is leading this world, and in the understanding that the chaos leading this world has been born from the chaotically divisive and limited structure of divisive human thought, which is the nature of what you are as you live this day, you will come to realise that there is no calling in life this day or any other, greater than this. There can be no change in our outer society of corruption, greed, selfishness, ambition, division and war for the benefit of all of humanity and the future of all of our lives and the lives of our children and theirs, until there is a change in the inner nature of humanity which has built it all. Upon reflection, this will be come to be seen as the inner nature of the human current psychological condition. The enemy of us all, is inside of us all. It is this needs be understood. And it is this need be brought to revolution. If you can find the required passion, the dedication, if you can put aside all things unnecessary to life you now engage within, if you can summon all energy to the pursuit of understanding the truth of your life, which is the truth of the lives of all of humanity, you are acting in the nature of the original etymological meaning of the word 'religion'. You are gathering all your energies to find that which is true to life. And your life, may yet find great value and meaning. For you may come to find that you are the beginning of the change this world needs to meet. Without this change, there can be no other.

HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS IS DIVIDEDHuman Consciousness is divided. Divided by memories. Thinking is a process of memory, a movement in the memory cells of the brain stimulated, programmed and continuous, by an activity educated into us all as children during at least twelve years of what is considered suitable as education by our society. We are educated into what to think; we hold little to no understanding at all of how we think. And what we think is naturally based on what we have been told by others. And so we live our lives and die our deaths as second hand, lost, manipulated and lonely, isolated people. We are told what to think about our living daily approach to life, that we are the most important thing which exists to us, and that we live in a world of brutal competition, and the only true virtue is that of becoming something. Of eternally progressing in time towards a state of being more than what we are this day. Of possessing more, of loving more, of gathering more material wealth, more knowledge, more understanding, greater enlightenment. Many are the roads we walk into our societally conditioned divisive futures. We are told and willingly accept, for we are told this all at an age when the value of questioning and doubting remains non understood, and we are blind and naïve to the possibility that we may be led astray on our journey into our natural born life, which is never permitted to remain natural for long. Perhaps, a few years. We are told what religion is, and that this understanding of ourself and the universe is a matter of belief and the following of the words of another. Belief, is the following of the words of another. We are greatly and diligently led into the understanding that order lives in an authority, that those who stand above us on a pyramidal structured ladder ever narrowing towards the top position of a few, ever widening towards the bottom position of the many, is a natural and orderly approach to life. We are judged as valuable or valueless based on how well we can conform to our educated insisted upon mental patterns and compete against our brothers and sisters, and carve our way in brutal competition, to the top of the class. To the top of the pyramid which permeates every structure of the ordering principle of our lives. We are fed problems, year after year after year, the problem of learning language, the problem of mathematics, the problem of memorising and passing never ending class tests. And so our brains become accustomed to living with problems. Naturally, as we grow older, as we age into our teen years and into our adulthood, our brains work within this pattern offered by our society as orderly. We ever seek our own success, in competition against the lives of others. We ever seek the nodding head of an authority in every field to make certain we are on the correct approach to life. We seek to stand above and in a higher position than others in every area of our lives. We view our lives as the most important. We work always for our isolated future fulfilment, we work from an isolated past remembered. This movement of psychological time is also legacy of our school years, of ever accumulating knowledge of subjects mostly useless to life, to pass futile exams in areas few of us hold any genuine interest. The movement is always to gather from the past, and to seek a reward in a future conceptual state, forever, standing on a ground of competition against our peers, which is a subtle form of violence. As we are educated to view our own lives as the most important component in life, we naturally come to divide. As we have, in each and every corner of the world, been educated to accept different understandings of our lives, (which offer no understanding at all), we each view life as a differing manifestation, and we each view our approach to life, as the only correct approach which exists. The way we are educated also divides the human mind within itself, between an image of a continuing 'thinker' and thoughts, this is the inner division responsible for every inward trauma mankind suffers, of which there are many. Some of us are raised to belong and believe in the teachings of the Catholic faith. Others, are raised Protestant. Some are Muslim, others Jew. Some Buddhist, some, nothing at all. Some are raised to be ‘Americans’, others to be ‘Russian’, some ‘African’, others. ‘Indian’. Some are told, by virtue of nothing more than holding ability to conform to the mundane system of learning conceptual outlooks and ideologies of life, that they are very clever, and their sense of self-importance grows. On the other side of the coin, those not so adept at conforming to the dictates of another, are left to feel themselves not so important. Some are born into families long standing on a ground of the upper echelons of societal pyramidal divisive material and ideological concepts, so named 'Royalty', or 'Aristocracy', banking families and are educated to view their lives as much more important and valuable than the lives of others. All of this scholastic activity offers so little benefit and great injury to our species, ensuring the continuity of unnecessary divisions between us all, which have done little but continue immense sorrow for our race over thousands of years of recorded history. Whatever we are educated to, whatever we blindly accept in life as true when too young to question, this knowledge is recorded into a child’s memory based brain cells, and from this unquestioned knowledge, thinking arises in life. This is the patterned approach to life every child has been conformed to live, to gather knowledge, and for knowledge later to arise from inner memory cells. This is the pattern mundanely repeated countless times across our world daily, forced into every child during twelve years of 'schooling', necessary to pass class tests and university exams. The brain of every child finds security in this pattern, and the pattern remains functional throughout our lives. This is where thinking comes from, from past recorded and remembered knowledge. Thought, is the past. All knowledge belongs to the past, you cannot know the present moment, the present moment is a living thing, moving, changing, from moment to moment, you can only know something past, something dead. Nor can you know what is yet to be, although we all greatly attempt the impossible act of foretelling the future, imagining an oppositional state to what we find this day, and so the future now becomes a mere continuity of the past, for that which we foresee, is born in the memory cells of the brain, within the area of thinking, which is human consciousness, which is gathered knowledge from the past, and so the future becomes a mere modified continuity of what came before, the future, becomes of the same quality and nature of the past. A mere modified continuity of what has always been. This conditioned approach to life is a tragic limitation to every man’s life, the reason for every human despair, this is the fracturing point giving rise to every conflict ever born in the lives of men. Thought is mechanical, it works away and is self-generating and self-continuous, and man lives within this injurious limitation, a psychological prison cell to every life few ever have found any escape from. The feeling of self, the human ego, is a movement within this consciousness of human conditioned memory. A program, running within a broader field of programs. All memory based. I feel myself to exist, yet this self I feel to exist stands on the shifting inner ground of moving words and images ever present in human consciousness, ever divisive between each and every man. I feel myself to be something completely different to you, yet the difference is a superficial one, the difference exists in the content recorded and which arises within consciousness. The difference, is between the Arab and the Jew, the Christian, and the Muslim, the American and the Russian. The difference is superficial; the difference is memory. The structure of memory is identical in each of us, only the content differs, as it must, for the content is based on past memories, and no human being on earth passes through the very same life experiences from which these recordings play out. These memory-based recordings of knowledge become a colouring and distorting screen which tells us both what we are, what is valuable to life, and through this screen, which divides us in differing images, each of us looks at life. And so, of course, we naturally all come to divide. And division between us all, is the very ground of conflict we all stand upon. The conflict this day between the Russian and the American, and the Ukrainian, between the east and the west, between every religious dogma, the conflict between political ideologies, the conflict between rich and poor, the conflict between the expert and the layman, and even the conflict between husband and wife, and brother and sister. All our conflicts, inner and outer, arise from our process of mechanical programmed and scholastically conditioned thinking and the divisions these naturally impose onto our lives. This is the area we need study if we seek to ever bring peace to the lives of humanity. We are futile to act as we live, for we act from this inner centre of limited memories, which is divisive between us all and so our every action, as we remain conditioned, can only lead to greater conflict and suffering in the world. We can see this with our own lives if we are sensitive, we can see this in our outer world of rich and political domination, where very step to solve a problem, led from an initial ground of biased and coloured observation, only creates more suffering, sorrow and pain for the majority of humanity. We need bring this inner learned and traditional psychological divisive state to revolution. We need be the change the world needs to see. How is this accomplished? First of all, there can be no ‘how’. Do you see this? For a how, is a method, a movement in time, from the current position, to a more desired state, and this is the very action which leads us into trouble. A seeking of a revolutionised future state in continuity from the present corrupted inner movement, and so, a continuity and carrying over of the same movement which needs to end, if any change is to be possible. The change, when and if it happens, and it must happen, or mankind will never know peace or the meaning of the word love, must be immediate, the change, must happen now. This, in initial consideration, may seem an impossibility, but consider this, the past is dead and over, the future is a mere conceptual continuity of the same past, the only true time, which ever existed, is now. You can never be anywhere other than where you are, and you can never exist in any moment other than the present moment. And now, is the only time anyone can act. You cannot act in the dead remembered past, nor in the conceptual future that past projects into. All action is now. Can you simply watch the turmoil of the inner divided state of human consciousness? This is the only approach. Awaken the senses to the inner divisive and so conflicted condition of human consciousness, the consciousness of the entirety of humanity? When you view without choice your inner world of thoughts and images, fears and desire, despairs and hopes and longings, you are viewing the consciousness of the entirety of humanity, what differs, are only the images this consciousness carries. Memories, from an isolated past. And so, if you can bring this inner state to change, and change demands an ending of what came before, then you are affecting a change on the entire consciousness of the totality of humanity. Watching without choice, is the only valid approach which may lead to such a change. If you watch with a motive, seeking to change then you are occupied, focussed once more on a state of future conceptual becoming, and so, you are not completely holistically watching. Watch from silence, that the inner nature of human consciousness may come into the light of it's own awareness, that thought itself may become, without any choice, aware of its own deeply conditioned and divisive nature. That the danger of how we are all living, may come to be seen. When we see a danger clearly, we act to remove our lives from that danger. The challenge is to see clearly, which is to see from a position of silence, allowing thought to reveal itself in entirety. This is arduous work for the consciousness of humanity is a divided field, and division is the ground of all conflict. Be of strong mind and resolute heart, face the enemy of humanity, which lives within each of us, which lives in the very nature of what we have been societally conditioned to be. |
AuthorHello to all, I am a 60 year old man who has spent the best part of his life studying the teachings of J.Krishnamurti. My name is Henryk. I am rather unimportant, although what I talk about on these pages, has great importance. Particularly today, in this dark world, led by men of infinite wealth, unfortunately without the intelligence to match. My work here stands on the shoulders of that of J.Krishnamurti. Without this man's passion and great life understanding, this website would never have existed. His effect on my own life has been immeasurable. A man of infinite vision and wisdom, who spent over 60 years of his life travelling the world and discussing life and societal problems. Krishnamurti passed away in the 1980s. Anyone interested in the nature of discussion in the content of this site, will likely find great interest in the work of Krishnamurti. Hundreds of videos may be found on YouTube. There is a link above dedicated to his work to which new content is planned to be regularly added. The beauty of truth in life, is that it is identical for each one of us. Truth is the place we all come to meet in unity. And truth belongs to no man. Only pointless opinions, divisive, traditional, educated into and gathered by us, may be claimed as ownership. The change in our world so desperately needed this day, is within us, not external to our lives. All man's actions begin in the area of human thinking, it is this needs understood and brought to revolution. Thanks for taking the time to visit, a few posts are being added to the site weekly at the moment, when I find time. If you would like to support the work here, you can do so from the price of a cup of coffee each month, contributors are invited to online discussions.
